BREEZE 303 Transit Signal Priority Study

BREEZE 303 Transit Signal Priority Study
blue box

North County Transit – San Diego Railroad (NCTD) is working with the City of Oceanside, the City of Vista and Caltrans to study the feasibility of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) technology along BREEZE Route 303 to make bus travel faster, safer and more reliable.

This study will evaluate existing conditions and develop recommendations for TSP technology along the BREEZE 303 route. The effort builds upon recommendations from NCTD’s BREEZE Speed & Reliability Study and represents an important step toward faster, more efficient transit service for North County communities. Funding for this project was provided by a Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant from the California Department of Transportation.

We Want to Hear from You

The BREEZE 303 TSP Study will only succeed if it reflects the needs of riders and the local community. That’s why we need to hear from YOU.

What is TSP Technology?

Transit Signal Priority (TSP) is a smart traffic system that helps buses move through intersections faster by communicating with traffic lights. When a bus is approaching, the system alerts the traffic signal, extending a green light or shortening a red one, which reduces delays, keeping buses on schedule, and getting passengers to their destinations on time.

TSP Benefits:

· Improved on-time performance of buses

· Passengers are able to transfer between routes seamlessly

· Encourages people to use public transit by making it more reliable

· Makes public transit more time-competitive with private vehicles

· Reduces greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with state climate goals
