From single rides or day passes, to cost-effective monthly passes, we offer choices to fit your travel and commuting needs. Children under 5 are free and must be accompanied by a fare-paying passenger. To qualify as a senior, you must be 65+.
NEW Contactless Payment
There is a new way to pay! Contactless Payment offers customers the ability to pay a transit fare with the direct tap of a debit or credit card and payment enabled smartphones and devices. Tap and go! An Adult one-way fare for that mode will be deducted and is valid for two hours. You will be charged a one-way fare each time you tap outside a two-hour window or for transfers to premium modes, such as COASTER, FLEX and COASTER Connection. Daily and monthly fare caps are not available for Contactless Payments.

Celebrate California’s Clean Air Day by riding FREE all day on COASTER, SPRINTER, BREEZE, and NCTD+ on Wednesday, October 7. Let’s take steps to reduce emissions and improve air quality!
To receive FREE rides from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on NCTD+, use promo code “FREERIDE”. Only valid for October 7.
NCTD LIFT, MTS services and Amtrak Rail 2 Rail are not part of this promotion. Passengers will not need a PRONTO card or valid fare for either system. NCTD services will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

Single Ride Fares
Single ride fares are available on all modes and offer pricing for Adult, Senior/Disabled/Medicare, and Youth riders.
BREEZE/FLEX single ride fare can only be reached by adding and using stored value from your PRONTO mobile app or card.
SPRINTER/COASTER single fare rides are available at all ticket vending machines (TVM’s) or through using stored value from your PRONTO mobile app or card. By using stored value as you go, your fare price will never exceed the daily cap.
For COASTER riders, tap or scan before and after your ride to avoid being overcharged for full zone price. Fare capping does not apply for COASTER.

Monthly Passes
Monthly passes are valid for unlimited travel on services listed for one calendar month. Monthly passes for the current month can be purchased from the 1st to the 19th. Monthly passes for the following month can be purchased from the 20th until the end of the calendar month.
Regional and Premium Regional monthly passes can be purchased via the PRONTO mobile app (select Add Passes and then select MTS as the agency) or at any NCTD Customer Service office. Regional Classroom Day Pass Program
The Classroom Day Pass Program is a great way for student groups from preschool to high school to learn how to use public transit while seeing the fun sites around San Diego.
MTS administers the Classroom Day Pass Program for the San Diego region (including trips on the SPRINTER and COASTER). Request and payment for your classroom day trip must be received at least 14 days prior to travel.
Metrolink Transfers to NCTD Services
Metrolink one-way ticket – valid for one transfer to SPRINTER or BREEZE originating from Oceanside Transit Center. Ticket must be stamped for same day of travel
Metrolink round-trip ticket, 7-day, Weekend, Day, and Monthly passes valid for one round-trip transfer on SPRINTER or BREEZE.
Transfer must originate from Oceanside Transit Center and be time stamped for same day of travel.
Metrolink tickets and passes are NOT VALID for transferring between NCTD routes or between NCTD and MTS.
Metrolink tickets are not valid for transfers to the COASTER, FLEX, or LIFT.
Transfer agreements between agencies are subject to change at any time.
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Transfers to NCTD Services
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner tickets are valid on NCTD SPRINTER or BREEZE when transferring at the Oceanside Transit Center or Solana Beach Station. Ticket must be stamped for same day of travel.
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner monthly pass holders may ride any COASTER train between the Oceanside Transit Center and the San Diego Santa Fe Depot within the origin and destination listed on their monthly pass.
