Senior Eligibility

Passengers age 65+ are eligible for a discounted fare when they show a valid proof of eligibility with:

  • Valid Driver’s License (with birthdate)
  • California Identification Card (with birthdate)
  • Other government issued I.D. that shows proof of age and a picture
  • Reduced Fare Photo PRONTO Card

Persons with Disabilities

Passengers are eligible for a discounted fare when they show a Reduced Fare Photo PRONTO Card or see below for more options.

Medicare Recipient

Passengers must show Medicare Card with a corresponding ID to receive the reduced fare.

How To Obtain Or Renew a Reduced Fare Photo PRONTO Card if You are Disabled:

Step 1:

Fill out an application
  • Obtain an application online: English Application Spanish Application
  • Call Customer Service for an application at: (760) 966-6500
  • Visit one of these locations to pick up an application:
    Oceanside Transit Center Customer Service
    205 South Tremont Street, Oceanside, CA 92054
    Escondido Transit Center Customer Service
    700 W. Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92025

Step 2:

Certify Your Disability

You may automatically qualify for reduced fare by providing at least one of the following proofs of eligibility:
• Current (within six months) Social Security Income (SSI) letter
• Current Medicare card (not Medi-Cal) with valid corresponding photo ID
• Current letter from the Veterans Affairs Office (VA) proving at least a 50% disability
• Disabled Person Placard ID card or Disabled Veterans Placard ID card with valid corresponding ID (Placard alone is not accepted)
• MTS or other California transit agency unexpired reduced fare disabled or complementary paratransit ID + government issued photo ID (if no photo included on disabled ID)

If you do not have one of these, have an authorized agency or qualified/certified healthcare professional complete their part of the form.

Step 3:

Visit a Customer

After completing the steps above, bring the completed form and picture ID to one of these two customer service locations:

When eligibility has been established, we will issue a Reduced Fare Photo PRONTO Card. These cards are initially free, but there is a fee for replacements.
