On April 18, 2024, the NCTD Board of Directors approved the closing of the public hearing and NCTD’s operation of the Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection (CC) service.

As of June 10, 2024, NCTD will begin the COASTER Connection (CC) service. NCTD staff used rider feedback through surveys and outreach events from Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 and operational factors to develop five CC routes. The five routes will connect with the COASTER trips that the existing MTS service currently serves, as well as one additional southbound COASTER trip in the late morning (COASTER trip 630) to accommodate customer service requests.

The CC service is considered FLEX service, which is included in COASTER regional and premium regional daily and monthly passes.

Additional information will be posted on this page as the schedules, stops, and service are finalized for implementation in June.

The existing SVCC routes will be operated by San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) until June 7, 2024. Starting June 10, NCTD will begin operating the following service:

  • MTS 972 (Sorrento Mesa) will operate on streamlined routing and add service along Vista Sorrento Parkway as NCTD 472
  • MTS 973 (Carroll Canyon) will have slight adjustments to include Morehouse Dr as NCTD 473
  • MTS 974 (UC San Diego) and MTS 979 (University City) will be merged and have added service for La Jolla Village Dr as NCTD 479
  • MTS 978 (Torrey Pines) will follow existing routing as NCTD 478
  • NCTD 471 will be added as a new route to serve Hologic, Dexcom, Google, and additional business parks along Flanders Dr.
