A redevelopment assessment of the SPRINTER corridor was conducted in 2020 to assess the feasibility for redevelopment of underutilized station parking lots.
The study prioritized seven of the 10 SPRINTER stations in between Oceanside Transit Center and Escondido Transit Center for redevelopment that best aligned with local goals and NCTD policies, including the following stations.
Oceanside SPRINTER Stations
Melrose Drive
At the intersection of Oceanside Blvd. and Melrose Drive, the Melrose Drive Station is in close proximity to retail and employment opportunities in North County. It is a single parcel totaling 109,591 square feet.

Rancho Del Oro

Coast Highway

A redevelopment request for proposal for the Palomar College SPRINTER station in the city of San Marcos is anticipated to be released in early Fiscal Year 2025.

Vista SPRINTER Stations
Vista Transit Center
The City of Vista received grant funding to evaluate grade separation opportunities for the Vista Transit Center and vicinity. NCTD is also undertaking further analysis of infrastructure needs to improve BREEZE speed and reliability at this frequently used SPRINTER Station. To provide time for these studies to inform a future site plan, a request for proposal for this site is paused until the studies are complete.

Civic Center Vista
The Vista Civic Center site is comprised of two parcels totaling 73,309 square feet. The project will be a transformational mixed-use, transit-oriented development providing ground floor activation.

What’s Next
It is anticipated that the Vista SPRINTER station projects will be brought to the NCTD Board for approval in Fall 2024.
