NCTD Staff Member Voted to Join APTA Risk Management Committee

Rhea Prenatt, NCTD’s Enterprise Risk Manager, was elected by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) to be the Secretary for the Risk Management Committee (RMC) for a two-year term.

APTA’s RMC is made up of transit risk managers, safety professionals, insurance brokers and other industry professionals who have an interest in managing or addressing risk-related issues and topics within the transit industry. The RMC brings everyone together to exchange information with those in the risk management field. In addition, the committee sponsors a seminar each year providing workshops on current risk management issues in the industry.

Rhea’s career in risk management moved to the public sector a little over seven years ago. She joined NCTD about a year and a half ago.  As NCTD’s in-house consultant, Rhea supports District departments and program development, implementation and management in the areas of Workers Compensation, return to work programs, liability and subrogation claims, insurance, cyber security, risk assessment and mitigation, procurement and investigations.

Rhea’s interest in promoting the profession, practices, education and awareness of risk management began over 20 years ago working complex litigation cases for large law firms in Los Angeles. Since that time, she focused on prevention of adverse events, minimizing the impacts to organizations and businesses from adverse events and planning to take advantage of challenges that could lead to great opportunities in the private sector.

The RMC has over one hundred members from across the United States, from a variety of industries. After the two-year term as Secretary, Rhea will rotate to the Vice-Chair position for two years and then move into the Chair position for a final two years.

Congratulations Rhea!
