2022 Scheduled Closures

The following are the currently scheduled weekend dates for 2022 rail closures.
Dates are tentative and may change at any time due to weather constraints or construction needs.

Complete Rail Closures

An Absolute Work Window (AWW) or coastal rail closure means there will be no COASTER or Amtrak service between Oceanside Transit Center and Santa Fe Depot. Please plan ahead to take other forms of transportation during this service interruption. There will be no replacement bus service connecting COASTER station stops. Alternatives for passengers who normally use the COASTER include BREEZE bus Route 101 or MTS connections.

Dates for rail corridor closures are chosen in order to reduce operational and community impacts. The work being done is necessary in order to improve California’s infrastructure. The rail will re-open for regularly scheduled COASTER and all other rail service in time for the morning commute on Monday. Please note that trains may be delayed up to fifteen minutes on this day.

BREEZE SERVICE CHANGES

Due to a shortage of drivers, seven BREEZE bus routes will have temporary frequency service reductions effective April 3, 2022. Some additional service may be added on these routes in the coming months as resources become available, and NCTD will restore full service as soon as staffing levels allow.

We apologize to our riders for the inconvenience and are working diligently to hire and train qualified drivers to restore our service to full levels. Thanks in advance for your patience. (If you’re looking for a steady career, with great benefits and advancement opportunities, visit careers.MVtransit.com.)

The following routes will have temporary frequency service reductions starting April 3, 2022:

302, 303, 318, 332, 350, 351/352

  • Some peak periods of 15-20 min. frequency will operate with a 30 min. frequency instead.

Service Management

We work hard to provide efficient, effective, and timely services for our customers. Unfortunately, delays happen, and it can be a delicate balance of how we utilize our resources to get the schedule back on time and deliver our passengers where they need to go. When there are delays, we understand that you may feel like you are in
the dark, with little information and a lot of time spent waiting for something to happen. View NCTD’s service management philosophy and processes in this section to see what we’re doing to get your commute back on track.
