Santa Rides Holiday Express Train Tomorrow!

Passengers are encouraged to bring food items for a food drive

What:
Guests young and old will ride the COASTER Holiday Express with Santa which departs from the Oceanside Transit Center tomorrow and travels to Solana Beach and back. Over the next two weekends, 12 Holiday Express trains will depart at 10:15 a.m.,12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. on December 3, 4, 10 and 11.

NCTD Board Chair Jewel Edson, San Diego Food Bank CEO Chris Castillo and Santa Claus will kick off this annual event to celebrate the holidays and bring attention to the importance of food donations during this season. Hundreds of Holiday Express guests will be there in anticipation of the first train departure.

Once on board, the sell-out crowd will visit with Santa Claus, carolers and holiday characters as they come through the train cars to perform and hand out gifts and wish lists to children. More than 9,500 guests are expected over the two weekends, including some Camp Pendleton Marines and their families who were provided complimentary tickets.

Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the North County Food Bank to help the nearly 1.1 million people in the county who face nutrition insecurity.
