Take Transit to the Del Mar Races!

Receive admission to the races, a round-trip fare on NCTD and MTS transit, and a shuttle ride directly to the racetrack, for one discounted price!

That’s a winning trifecta! Leave traffic and parking hassles in the dust and take Pony Express.

North County Transit District, Metropolitan Transit System and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club are partnering up this race season with the return of the Pony Express.

It’s time for the 2024 Del Mar Thoroughbred Club summer racing season and we have a sure bet for you!

The 2024 Pony Express summer season runs from Sunday, July 21 through Sunday, September 8 with horses on the track Thursdays through Sundays.

Pony Express Pricing

The Pony Express provides a discounted package including general admission into the races, round-trip fare on the COASTER, SPRINTER, BREEZE and MTS Trolley and bus, and a shuttle ride between the Solana Beach COASTER Station and the racetrack. Remember to scan your PRONTO app or paper ticket at platform validators prior to boarding every time you ride.

Heading to the Races?

Pony Express tickets can be purchased day of sale only through the PRONTO app and at ticket vending machines (TVM) found on all COASTER, SPRINTER and Trolley rail platforms.

Keep your paper ticket or have the PRONTO app ready for admission to the races and for your trip home.

Remember to scan your PRONTO app or paper ticket at platform validators prior to boarding every time you ride.

There will be free Del Mar Races shuttles that run approximately every 30 minutes between the Solana Beach COASTER Station and the racetrack.

Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

Exclusions

Please note, Pony Express sales begin on July 21, 2024. Pony Express is not offered for Opening Day, July 20, 2024. Pony Express is not valid on Amtrak trains or included in Rail2Rail. No refunds on Pony Express tickets.
